Still the best value for money
#1
I still think that the IC7100 is the best value for money, it's non bulky, 100 watts, does all bands including Dstar if that's your kind of thing. Unlike other Icoms which claim to do everythibg which they do not. IC7300 does not do 2m or 70cm AFAIK, and certainly not Dstar either.

Sometimes I wish I had ventured down the icom HF road Mike. As a new HAM I bought a well-priced reliable FT897d from Sam Ford and then got used to the horrible menu system over about 10 years. Somehow as a result I now own FT891 & FT817nd (which I love!).

OT warning: I had the same experience with vehicles. Bought one Toyota Prado back in the day, loved the car, couldn't handle the fuel usage, sold it for a profit. Switched to Land Rover, now on my 9th and have been loving the fuel consumption and performance and suffering with the resale value ever since Smile
